Westville Porch

Completing the porch on the Westville happened over the course of a couple days. Here is that process in detail. With pictures!

I used cereal boxes to create siding for the outside of the house. 2cm in diameter.

I created my own windows with balsa wood from hobby lobby. 1/4in in diameter

The house is being painted “Pencil Sketch Gray” from Home Depot

Front door is from houseworks – ordered on amazon. It was a bit big for the opening so I used my Dremel tool to cut the house for the door to fit.

To create a stone look for the porch I used egg cartons!

Cut the egg carton into various shapes. Fit them onto the porch before I glued them. Once I was satisfied I glued them down.

Once glued I added a layer of mod podge to seal the egg cartons since its paper.

Finished porch!

I added posts – the top was a bit warped so the candles helped it stay down when I glued it. The plastic for the window is from the original box. Glued it from the inside, added frames on the inside as well.

  1. This is absolutely outstanding. Next house (which may be a while), I will try using cereal boxes for the siding if it needs it. I used mini blinds. I think your siding looks better. Also, the stone porch looks amazing! Great job!

  2. I always think the most creative, ARTistic people are those who can make something from nothing. As YOU are able to do again and again!!
