The porch was fun to put up. I painted all the details in white to be a stark contrast to the black porch base and the grey house. It took about 3-4 coats of the white paint for the wood to really look white.


They were relatively sturdy and with the wood glue only a little bit of the painters tape was needed for them to stay up while they dried. The top of the porch rails did not actually touch the porch roof. The tape really mainly helped everything stay straight as it all dried.

This was not the case for the gables that decorated the house. I had some difficult with this as the gables needed to line up with the roof just right. The painters tape helped tremendously to keep them in the exact position that I wanted them to dry in.
And the roof details required tape on both sides to keep it straight.



From start to end painting took about an hour and assembly after the paint dried took about an hour and a half. Finished look:
