Arrival of the Fairfield

In my bedroom I have a little reading nook. In preparation for the arrival of the Fairfield I transformed it into a craft nook. Definitely an upgrade from working on my dollhouses on the floor. Unexpectedly my dollhouse ended up arriving yesterday! Which meant I was able to start working on it last night.

Night one of working on the Fairfield consisted mainly of sanding but I did also do some small things. Because this dollhouse is a smaller size I decided not to rush with gluing everything right away and instead get the pieces laid out close to perfect before gluing. Maybe even painting before I glue the walls. Last night I glued the only two things that I will probably be gluing for a while – the foundation and the chimney.

I decided that I don’t like the stairs in the house. Ive been looking at pictures and they look very awkward. So in preparation of creating my own stairwell I needed to make a cut of one of the walls. Below is the before and after:

And the last thing I ended up doing was painting the ceilings. Admittedly in the last two houses I never actually painted the ceilings. So I was determined to make sure the ceilings in this house ended up getting painted for a more complete look.

I may need to do one more coat of the white today.

I’ll probably be taking a trip to Lowes for some paint today. (I plan on posting a blog about my color palette for this house tomorrow.) I may also try to stop into Michaels to get some things that I may need for when I continue to customize this soon to be beautiful house.
